Acupressure

What is Jin Shin Do Acupressure?

Acupressure is a form of therapy for pain reduction and stress release. Acupressure is similar to Acupuncture applying finger touch instead of needles.

Jin Shin Do translates “The Way of the Compassionate Spirit”. The ancient health technique of Acupressure helps balancing and unblocking the energy flow in the energy channels (=meridians).

“The Acu-points are traditionally speaking, points where the energy flow comes to the surface of the body. Scientifically speaking, these points are essentially points of high electrical conductivity or, conversely, low electrical resistance. They act somewhat like amplifiers, passing the energy along from one point to another. The meridians and the channels are the transmission lines along which the energy flows.” (Iona Marsaa Teeguarden, Acupressure Way of Health, Jin Shin Do)

What can I expect during / from an Acupressure Session?

In traditional Acupressure application the client stays clothed and lies on her/his back on a massage table. Comfortable clothing is recommended. The Acupressure Therapist uses her fingertips holding gently but firm two energy or acu-points at a time until she feels the rhythm of the freed up flow in the meridian and than moves to the next points. The client experiences a sense of deep relaxation, release of muscular tensions, and peace during the session.
